French Fishtail Braid

Image
Hey guys! For this look, I started with a section of hair on each side of my head and began a normal fishtail braid.  Everytime I crossed one piece over to the other I added another section of hair to give it that french braid look.  Once all the hair was in the braid I continued on with the normal fishtail and secured my hair at the end.  Hope you enjoy!

And at Last I See the Light...

Hey guys! Over the weekend I attended the Lantern Festival for the first time and had a blast!  It was such a great event and was beautiful to watch.  There are multiple different programs that put on this event, but here is the one I used if you're interested: http://www.thelanternfest.com.  They have events in many cities and I would recommend going!  They provided us with a lantern, lighter, marker, and s'mores kit for the night.  My boyfriend and I brought a blanket and found a spot next to a fire pit to enjoy the event.  They also had live entertainment and we let our lanterns fly around 8pm!  I hope you enjoy what photos I have and I'm sorry for the quality but I forgot my camera :(

Braided Bangs

Image
Hey guys! I love braids and this is the new hairstyle that I have been wearing a lot recently to keep my bangs out of my face.  I start at my bangs and begin a french braid, and after i have a good amount of hair I finish it off as a normal braid.  I normally like to stop before I reach my ear and afterwards I pull the braid apart to make it look thicker.  Also, I like to add some loose waves with a curling iron for the hair left down.

Segovia, Spain \ Barranco Forest Toledo, Spain Segovia, Spain Valencia, Spain Vineyard outside Toledo Segovia, Spain Consuegra, Spain Hey guys!  Sorry I haven't been posting lately I got caught up in my trip and then had to head back to reality to start school again.  I chose a few of my favorite photos from some other places I visited in Spain and I hope you enjoy them!  I loved my trip and I would recommend everyone to go explore Spain and see all that it has to offer.  It really is a beautiful country and I learned so much through my internship and the people I met.  Now I am back in school and studying hard!  I submitted my application to pharmacy school and am in the process of waiting to see what the next steps are.  Cross your fingers for me!

My Favorite Side Braid

Image
Hey guys! So I've been on a bit of a braid kick lately since they're super easy to do and they look gorgeous.  This side braid is one that I have been wearing a lot on my trip and its super simple.  For this look, I did a side part and gathered all my hair to one side.  Then I started a French Braid right at the front of my head and continued adding all my hair into it.  Once I had all my hair braided, I pulled the braid apart a little bit and took out some pieces to frame my face.  Hope you enjoy!

Waterfall Braids

Image
Hey guys! I love waterfall braids because my hair is on the thinner side so I like to leave as much down as possible when pulling my hair back because I can tend to seem bald (especially with the blond hair).  I'm not skilled enough to do one continuous waterfall braid around my entire head so instead I braided on each side to the middle of the back of my head and tied both braids with a clear elastic. For my braid, I started off with 3 sections at the front of my head and started a normal braid.  After I started it, I added some hair to the top strand and then crossed it over towards the middle, then you drop the bottom strand and pick up a piece of hair next to it, and cross that towards the middle.  I kept repeating this process until I got to the back of my head and did the same to the other side.  Waterfall braids can be confusing and I'm debating on starting a YouTube channel so I could post a video for you to be able to see step by step.  Lemme know what you think!

Dresses and Jean Jackets

Image
Hey guys!  I had to pack light since I'll be in Spain for 5 weeks and my checked bag could only be 50 pounds (somehow I managed 45) so I decided to pack a lot of simple dresses that I could dress up or down to wear multiple times.  This one is one of my favorites.  It has a beautiful crochet pattern over a floral slip and I decided to pair it with a jean jacket for a more casual look.  You can't see me feet, but I wore black and gold sandals.

French Braid Pony

Image
Hey guys! Being in a foreign country it can be difficult to use curling irons and straighteners since they can either overheat or not be hot enough from the difference in wattage, so I have been doing many heatless hairstyles.  For this hairstyle, I started doing a normal French Braid with all my hair and did not create a part.  I finished the braid until I got to the end of my hair and then tied it off into a ponytail.  I then took a small section and wrapped it around to hide the hair band and pinned it with a bobby pin.  Finally, I took out some pieces to frame my face and that was all! It held up all day through my hospital shift and I got many compliments!

Lagunas de Ruidera

Image
Hey guys!  So on Wednesday we traveled to the Ruidera Lakes in Castile-La Mancha, Spain.  There are about 15 of these lagoons that vary in colors and are all interconnected through small canals.  We hiked first to the main waterfall, but it is so surrounded by nature that you can only see it from afar and cannot get too close to it.  Then we continued our hike until we came upon a bat cavern, so we put on our helmets and headlamps to head down under.  I couldn't see any bats, but it was interesting to see the layout of the cave and the beautiful crystals that formed in the ceiling.  Our visit was on a rainy day so we took cover in a restaurant for lunch and luckily it cleared up so we could go kayaking!  We kayaking around the lagoon and then had to drag our kayak through a small canal so that we could enter a new lagoon and swim around there.  The water was a clear blue and in some areas it was even turquoise, and it was possible to see the bottom most of t

Toledo, Spain Day 1 in the ICU Scrubbing in! The main Cathedral in Toledo My hilltop city! Palace at Aranjuez, Spain Gardens at Aranjuez, Spain Hey guys!  So about a week ago I started my internship where I am shadowing doctors for the next 5 weeks IN SPAIN! After being here a week, I was able to get settled in and am able to give an update. There is a group of 10 of us from my university living in Toledo, Spain and working in the local hospital.  This city is beautiful and contains so much history that there are even buildings here that date back to the 1st century.  On Sunday, we arrived in Toledo and settled into our hotel since we would have a busy week ahead of us.  We are all stationed in different departments each week and this allows us to get an up close view of what it is like being in the healthcare industry.  This week I was in the ICU and was able to witness a few surgeries throughout the week.  I got a little nauseous on the first day since

California Dreamin'

Image
We did a quick 4 day getaway trip to California to escape the 100 degree weather here in Arizona.  My boyfriend drove (he just got a new car and uses every opportunity to drive it) and we stayed with his sister in Laguna Beach, CA.  Since we're both kids at heart we spent a few days roaming through Disneyland and California Adventure, and yes we did make it on every ride.  I love all things Disney and can quote most of those movies so for me, this truly is the happiest place on Earth.  Unfortunately the weather wasn't on our side since it was rainy and windy during our stay so we didn't get to tan at the beach as I had hoped, but it's always sunny in AZ so I know I'll have those tan lines soon enough.
