New Years in the Mountains






My family is big on skiing and this year we decided to go to Telluride, CO for New Years.  We stayed in town for almost a week and spent most of our time on the slopes.  To give our legs a rest we took a break one day and went horseback riding through the snow.  The views were incredible and although I am not the best rider I do love being on a horse!  For the town's New Year celebration they had a group of skiers come down the mountain carrying flames as seen in my last photo while the fireworks went on.

We did a quick 4 day getaway trip to California to escape the 100 degree weather here in Arizona.  My boyfriend drove (he just got a new car and uses every opportunity to drive it) and we stayed with his sister in Laguna Beach, CA.  Since we're both kids at heart we spent a few days roaming through Disneyland and California Adventure, and yes we did make it on every ride.  I love all things Disney and can quote most of those movies so for me, this truly is the happiest place on Earth.  Unfortunately the weather wasn't on our side since it was rainy and windy during our stay so we didn't get to tan at the beach as I had hoped, but it's always sunny in AZ so I know I'll have those tan lines soon enough.

Chop Chop: Bringing My Damaged Hair Back to Life

The final product My hair after the second treatment My natural hair (it was not that red, just bad lighting) being colored the 1st time I naturally have light brown hair and a year ago I decided to start adding blonde to it when the balayage technique started to become popular.  The first time (June) I had it done it looked great, but I noticed after a few months the color started to turn yellow and seem brassy.  I wasn't surprised as it was the first treatment of going brown to blonde and decided to have it redone in January.  I chose a different hairstylist as my previous one was no longer there and emphasized to her my dislike of how the color changed and how I wanted to go a lighter blonde.  She whipped up the color and my hair looked great! She even convinced me to buy a new brand of shampoo, Tea Tree, as it was a Paul Mitchell Saloon.  I had received a cut that day as well and knew there was a problem a week later when I felt like I need...

Waterfalls of the Grand Canyon

Havasu Falls Mooney Falls Hike to Mooney Falls Navajo Falls The 10 mile hike to the bottom of the Grand Canyon was so worth it once I saw the first waterfall.  After hours under the hot sun and being covered in red dust the feeling of satisfaction came once I put my feet into the crystal blue water.  There were 4 waterfalls we swam in and our campground was right in the middle of them.  We put up our hammocks and survived off of nutella and bagels for 2 nights...with the occasional 2 mile hike to the cafe in the Supai village for a burger (I am American after all)  The waterfalls were spectacular and I wish I was able to take more photos but I was busy swimming in the water and enjoying myself to be too caught up with technology.  My favorite one was Mooney Falls which stood at 200 ft tall and required up to navigate down wooden ladders and rough terrain in order to reach the bottom of it.  We camped for 2 nights and then made our way out...
